It's a good thing we have all the reception food (that now needs to be eaten), or this might start to look disturbingly like the Donner Party around here. We are snowed in.
There's a driveway out there...somewhere!
The dogs are having a tough time. They try to walk out back, but keep crunching through the top crust that has iced over.
We seven souls have been trying to keep our spirits up, with non-stop Scrabble and Apples-to-Apples games. There is much cooking and eating and drinking. There is music, courtesy of internet radio and good piano players. But I have to admit that cabin fever is beginning to set in. We're going to have to devise a plan today that goes beyond "waiting for it to melt."
News from Seattle: Alex tells us that he has not been to work in 3 days. The buses aren't running at all. Several friends came over for Roommate Doug's birthday on Saturday, and it's been a sleepover and sledding party ever since. Juli has to hike down Queen Anne hill like a mountain climber each night to get to work (and hike back up the Everest-like slope each morning). Seattle is frozen solid.
The wedding is on for Sunday, Dec. 28, when the temp is supposed to get up to the 40s and it will rain. The rented items (chairs, plates, glasses, linens) are all sitting at the venue, as is the wedding cake, which the bakery made early and delivered early, without notifying anyone (we are trying to get the bakery to re-make the cake, they are trying to get out of doing that). Hopefully, someone is using this postponement to make the music playlist, that was turning into a last-minute debacle last week.
We are hoping Juli, Kerne and Alex will all be able to "Escape From Seattle," via train or bus to join us on Christmas Day. Then, we'll do it all over again, ferrying up supplies and people on Friday and Saturday, to pull this thing off on Sunday.
In the meantime, it continues to snow...

I've just heard from a friend near Boston that is fighting the elements there. Gee, this is unbelievable. At least you have food and you are all together safe and sound. Think of the memories that you are all creating, let alone the bonding - something to talk about the rest of your lives!!!!
Stay warm my friend!!
L, M ;-)
